A closer look at Air Seychelles

Following Air Seychelles’ decision to return the two Boeing 767-200 aircraft leased from the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) three years earlier than its due date of return, LSH contacted the national airline Public Relation to clarify some specific details that have not been reported in the local media.

We sent an email to Mr Glenn Pillay asking the following questions:

  • Is there any financial penalty for the cancellation of the lease contract?
  • If so, how much has it cost the company?
  • How can the company justify that we can do with 3 air crafts what we used to do with 5?
  • For how long is the airline planning to operate with only three air crafts and maintaining its current schedule?
  • The decision to return the air crafts has been taken immediately after Mr Steller’s appointment as CEO, whilst we know that it takes a while to negotiate such deal, therefore, whose decision was it to return the planes – Air Seychelles’ Board or the government.
  • Since Mr Steller’s package is a matter of public concern. Could the company please enlighten our readers on what he has been offered to take the post?

Looking for the former Miss Seychelles

Today was a busy day running around between the opening of the annual Teacher's Day art and craft exhibition to digging up in the Seychelles Nation photo library. The most interesting part of the day was chasing a group of former Miss Seychelles beauty pageant winners (watch out for the Friday 07th October edition).

Working Overload

A rather uneventful day, except for taking a few photo shots here and there! The main day to day work was on the Exposé page. Got enough thinking to do, background research and phone calls to make for today.

The Admin side of things

Today was a day dedicated to the administrative part of the business; ensuring that all our papers and books are in order and in accordance with what the authorities namely the Revenue Commission, Pension Fund, the bank etc are asking. However, we found time to cover the annual "Remembering October 03rd" photo opportunity at the National Cultural Centre in Victoria, hosted by the Seychelles National Party.
